In a Steam news update posted to the Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 page, series creator Scott Cawthon has announced that RPG spin-off Five Nights at Freddy’s Worldhas been removed from Steam.

FNaF World, the RPG spin-off from animatronic scare ‘em up Five Nights at Freddy’s, has returned and is now free. Creator Scott Cawthon released it in January, a month earlier than he’d previously planned, and some responses to the game made him rethink that. Steam Database record for FNaF World.

As is typical of Cawthon’s releases, FNaF World released suddenly and with little fanfare. Its launch was quite a bit earlier than had previously been announced, and unfortunately may have been a bit too soon for public consumption.

Cawthon’s explanation regarding the removal was simple and straightforward. Despite an 87% user rating on the Steam store page, Cawthon was “not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting.”

I’ve decided to remove the game from Steam. I’ve also asked Valve to make it so that the game can be refunded regardless of the amount of the time it has been owned, meaning that anyone can get a refund at any time. It may take them a while to set that up, but it will be in place soon.

Cawthon has committed to continue polishing the game until it meets his and his fans’ expectations. He’s currently working on implementing a full 3D overworld map, aside from the copious amounts of bug fixes that the title requires.

When it is re-released, Scott has decided to distribute it completely free of charge. The full version will replace the demo currently on GameJolt when it’s ready. He has also approved refunds for all those who have already purchased the game, regardless of how long ago it was purchased or play time.
